The Horizon Railways digital ticket project is a UX/UI design exploration that reimagines train ticketing for a modern, user-friendly experience. The goal was to create visually engaging, intuitive, and functional boarding passes seamlessly integrating essential travel information while enhancing the user experience.

Project Overview
This project features a set of digital train tickets designed to be aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. The layouts prioritize clarity, ease of navigation, and accessibility, ensuring passengers can quickly access their travel details. Inspired by contemporary transit systems, the designs incorporate clean typography, organized layouts, and interactive elements that make digital boarding smoother.
Each ticket variation explores different visual styles, user flows, and interaction methods, including barcode scanning, seat selection, and QR code verification. These design choices improve the overall experience by simplifying the check-in process and making travel information easily read.
Design Process & Tools
This project was developed using Adobe XD, leveraging its prototyping capabilities to create interactive mockups that simulate real-world usability. Key design considerations included:
• Consistent hierarchy and typography to ensure legibility and accessibility.
• Interactive seat selection visuals, helping users quickly identify assigned seating.
• Scannable boarding codes (QR and barcodes) for efficient boarding.
• Refined UI components, including buttons and icons that maintain a sleek, modern aesthetic.
The Repeat Grid function in Adobe XD was instrumental in streamlining seat maps and ensuring design uniformity, while real-time prototyping enabled usability testing and refinement.
Challenges & Solutions

One challenge in this project was balancing aesthetic appeal with functionality—ensuring the tickets were visually engaging without compromising ease of use. Additionally, transitioning from static design tools like Photoshop and Illustrator to XD’s interactive workflow required an adaptation period. However, mastering responsive layouts, component reuse, and user flows helped refine the final designs.
Final Outcome

The Horizon Railways digital ticket designs successfully demonstrate an enhanced travel experience through thoughtful UX/UI design. The project highlights the importance of intuitive interfaces in public transportation and showcases the potential of specialized design tools to improve user engagement and accessibility.
